How to Disable Automatically Closing Curly Braces, Brackets, Parenthesis, and Quotes

… because it’s the worst friggin' “feature” ever and it shouldn't be enabled by default.

vim

vim does not have bracket insertion. if you have bracket insertion in vim, search your config for either “inoremap {…” or the vim-autobrace plugin.

um… i guess more specifically “in vim you search /inoremap [‘”{([] in ~/.vimrc and ~/.config/nvim/init.vim"

Firefox inspector

Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.

Select “Settings”.

Under “Editor Preferences”, un-check “Autoclose brackets”.

Kate/Kwrite

oh, KWrite -> Configure KWrite -> Editing -> utick “Automatically close brackets when opening bracket is typed

same for Kate editor as well, just replace the Kwrite with Kate :)
